The asylum-seeking unaccompanied youth that we support in the accommodation centers in Brussels attend language and regular education courses based on their age and level. As newly arrived to Belgium, however, it is necessary for them to be included in Belgian society and to realize their education and economic opportunities.
We also work in a female-only center which hosts adult and young adult women. Since they do not receive education beyond language training, SB Overseas provides them with a platform where they learn about their own skills and how to use them for their future.
With both the youth and women, we do weekly weekend activities that focus on this level of inclusion: negotiation training, learning about the European Union institutions, doing engineering-related activities and meeting people studying in universities. We focus on giving them the necessary tools that will allow them to build their own future.
